I'd like to give this site a big thumbs up. We went with another family and we had a great time. This site allows you to really camp properly. If you don't want to be a real camper you may not like it here but if you are up for a challenge you will enjoy this site.
The site has a shower block which the owners are hoping to update but it is clean if not modern. The on site pub is great and all the staff are friendly. We have already decided that we will be going again next summer.rcphpBBadmin

What a brilliant 3 nights camping we had (you lot are mad) Joking aside Janet, Kelvin, Daz and Baz and the locals made us feel so welcome. The site has all you need, the price £7 a night is so good. We danced and sang the night away even had a tab at the pub. Cant wait to come again

As first time campers we had a lovely couple of nights at The Rose & Crown, the staff were very welcoming, we really enjoyed our stay here. The toilet/shower block was basic but ok for a couple of nights, plenty of hot water. The pub grub & ales were great!
Only went into Holbeach, nice little town has a Tesco for your shopping! Did plenty of walking with the dog around Holbeach Hurn the roads were very quiet, ideal for walking.
Will return again! Many thanks to all the staff & regulars for making our stay such fun.

This a a little gem of a site! We had an amazing weekend in June. One of the friendliest sites we have ever visited!
Electric Hook-up ideal for tents and caravans - very flat and sheltered, particularly in the lower field. Clean toilet block - plenty of hot water.
The pub serves real ale and the food is excellent value for money. There is a pool table and a lovely beer garden.
Holbeach Hurn is ideally located for visiting both Lincolnshire and Norfolk. King's Lynn & Boston are 20 mins drive away - Hunstanton a little bit further but worth a visit.
Thanks to Baz & Daz for making us so welcome - we can't wait to return next year!

We stopped on this site over the bank holiday for three nights and must say the staff are all as mad as a box of frogs, what a good time we had. We was made welcome from the start.
The site is not a 5* one, old toilet blocks, only a swing / slide for kids, but they are making moves to improve it and if they do what they have planed it will be very nice.
The pub has nice food and the price is good too
Kelvin/baz and the others made the stay a very good one and helped out with getting some fishing sorted out for me (thanks again)
We will be going back and with some friends next time

You will either love this site or hate it and other reviews give you all the reasons to love it - birdsong, friendly staff and visitors (but this week-end we were the only non-residents) - good local village pub with real ale (Elgoods and it is well kept, but not my favourite) excellent food and excellent service.
Not so good bits? Tired toilets and showers that must be up-graded soon. Large statics that almost litter the pub grounds - but when the leylandii grow this will be screened! The site is miles from anywhere and so it is not a really good touring centre, unless you like to commute the A17.
Overall? We had a good week-end - the site was alomst empty. Saturday we did instant bbq and sunday we eat in the pub. During the day we went off to the mouth of the river Nene and Peter Scott walk along the edge of the nature reserve.
So we came home feeling relaxed and with fond memories of our first camping trip together with friends.

We stayed at the Rose and Crown caravan site for 7 days and found it very enjoyable, relaxing and a break that will never be forgoten. The staff/owners were very friendly. The pub which is located on site serves up excellent home cooked food and real ales to a high standard, and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending this site for a break. Marks out of 10 = 10
anyone booking must make sure they meet BAZ the entertainer.

On arrival to the site we was greeted by Kelvin the Landladys husband who was very helpful in helping me set up my caravan as he could see I have back problems.
After we were set up we went into the pub for a drink and bite to eat where we were greeted by a smile from Janet the landlady. We had a lovely meal that was very cheap for the quality/quantity. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and the locals were very friendly.
This site is brilliant it is basic at the moment but al ot of work is being carried out. If you like a place to relax and have a good laugh this is the site for you.
Overall I would reccomend this site 100%. We cant wait to visit again later this year.

Still full from the wonderful Sunday lunch cooked for us by the unnecessarily tall Daz - the chef at the Rose and Crown!
What a wonderful welcome we had at this family run pub - we were made to feel like 'regulars'.
Great place to stay with all the usual amenities - nice, flat pitch for the tent and well away from busy roads. Despite 'work in progress' in the toilet / shower block, it was still clean and with a plentiful supply of hot water.
We're already planning our next visit - hoping to bring some friends with us to enjoy the hospitality.

We visited recently in a non electric tent with our dog.
I was greeted by a great guy called Baz, and shown to our pitch. He came out frequently to see if we needed help and to explain the location of shower block etc.
We went in for a lovely home made meals and gorgeous homemade baileys cheesecake (don't drive after that, very potent but great). They have karaoke on fri nights which was good fun
Lovely site they are in the process of getting more shower blocks and toilets built as not many at moment.
Great area, tallest windmill in moulton close by, baytree garden centre down road, biggest in britain,
Stayed till Monday only left two days early as ran out of money.
I'm just glad that we were there for Sunday lunch I had lamb, partner had beef, the yorkshire puds were amazing!

Rose and Crown Nr Spalding

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This site is a treat, we went early last year and found the landlord (Kelvin) and landlady (Janet) to be a very friendly couple. They are around most of the time if you need anything and Kelvin is always full of banter. He has a great sense of humour and colourful language at times but he's so funny, you can't help liking him. Janet works mainly in the bar and is always up for a chat. The beer is excellent and so is the food.
The site itself is quite flat and has plenty of room for tourers and awnings and has electric hookups. There is also a field where they have tents. All the grounds are kept clean and the grass is cut to a nice length. There is a playground for kids with a few swings etc and you can sit out in the beer garden while the kids play.
Toilet block is basic but clean and loads of hot water.
Prices are very good and they are trying to keep them as low as possible.
It is a quiet site well away from most traffic noise. I would definitely recommend this site if it's a quiet weekend or a midweek break that you want, or longer if you like to chill out and do nothing.

The Cambridgeshire Legless Frogs (from: ukcampsite.co.uk)

Reviewer: Beckymosaic (1) Date of Visit: April 2010 Unit: Trailer Tent

I had organised an Easter Camp for my fellow 2CVers, and picked the Rose and Crown mainly for the fact it was a local campsite with pub attached.
We were not fully prepared for the wonderful time we had; Kelvin, Janet, Darren and Baz were wonderful hosts - nothing was to much for them.
They were happy to accommodate over 50 of us, and serve up to 15 at a time for a 'full English' breakfast - bargain of the year for a fiver - beautifully cooked and so tasty.
The Elgoods beers were superb, all the food yummy (particular praise for the treacle pud), and the hosts great company.
OK, the site loo/shower block was basic, but it's a campsite, not Butlins! The water was always hot, and the loos clean, with a useful outside washing up area. The plentiful hook-ups and chemical loo emptying point an unexpected, but useful feature on a pub camp site.
The karaoke was not to be missed, but not always because the singing was good!
We hope to be back 'en masse' again soon

I CAN'T REMEMBER FROM WHENCE THIS CAME ! ! !

We were greeted with a smile and a handshake, and it just kept getting better.
Nothing seemed too much trouble for them - we're new to caravans but were told to ask if we needed any help at all.
Having pitched where we fancied (nice view over the fields) we went into the pub and had a first rate meal - very welcome.
Saturday we went off exploring Boston (market day) and Spalding, then back to the caravan site to try some of the real ale and real cider - very good.
In all, can't really fault the site - its not "posh", with loads of plush facilities, but loos, showers etc were all more than functional, the site was fine, and we certainly intend to visit again..

I found this pub in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. This is an Elgoods Pub that offers a good variety of well kept beer's, Cambridge, Blackdog and Thin Ice on this occasion.

The staff, Darran, Baz, Janet and Kelvin are very nice people and I was made to feel very welcome from entering ther pub, Cheer's!!!

I will be going back to this pub without a doubt and recommend it to everyone.
